abstract In this work the results of computer simulation of cracking the sample for crack resistance tests have been presented. Authors made an attempt of computer modeling of the cracking process on pack of engineering software ADINA v. 8.3. For simulation the sample type SENB was used with shape of prismatic beam with rectangular nick in its central part. The sample has been subjected to three-point bending. Material, from which the sample was made of, was composite of polypropylene with 25% content of talc. The considered problem has been reduced to the problem type 2D. For that purpose the middle surface of tested sample has been determined and surface model has been designed. In numerical model from 1500 up to 3000 octa-nodal complete elements in flat state of deformation, what gave up to 8000 nodes for whole structure. In the area, where some crack is expected, the net of complete elements was compacted. The bended sample was in contact with supports forced the bending. The supports have been modeled as rigid body. To bottom support imposed a load in form of displacement, the supports had a possibility of movement along Z axis, but the top mandrel was immovable. The given condition of displacement of the movable bottom supports enabled of obtaining the deflection f = 10 mm in the space of 200 temporal steps. The results of simulation of the cracking process were presented in graphical form. In results of the carried out computer simulations obtained very wide research material, which was subjected to detailed analysis for the purpose of its proper interpretation.
