abstract Corrosion resistance of AlZnMg/Al2O3 composite with volume fraction of Al2O3 reinforced particles 10 and 20% were investigated in LiClO4-H2O solution. The composites in the initial, solution treatment and ageing states were investigated. Considerable differences of corrosion resistance between specimens after heat treatment as well as different volume fraction of reinforced particles was found. In the both cases similar changes of corrosion resistance was observed (Figs 1-3). Using optical and scanning microscopes the analysis of composite surfaces after 20 minutes exposition in corrosion environment was carry out (Fig. 4). On surface of samples emerged corrosion pits regardless of heat treatment application, however, for specimens in the initial state quantity of corrosion pits was smallest. The every description corrosion damage was occurred on the boundary between matrix and reinforced particles, whereas remaining part of matrix surface was devoid of corrosion pits.
