Katarzyna N. Braszczyńska-Malik (maiden name: Braszczyńska) is currently a professor at the Czestochowa University of Technology, Faculty of Production Engineering and Materials Technology, Institute of Materials Engineering (Degrees: 2019 – professor (title), 2008 – professor (position), 2006 – habilitation ,1998 – PhD, 1995 – MSc). She had a six-month international scientific internship at Departement Materiaalkunde (MTM) Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium (granted by the Foundation for Polish Science). She is a honorary member of the Polish Society of Composite Materials (President since 2015), member of the Composite Section of the Committee on Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Foundrymen’s Association, the Polish Ceramic Society, the Polish Materials Science Society, Foundry Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Katowice and other. Her research interest is focused on non-ferrous metals (Mg alloys), metals matrix composites, design and production of new alloys and composites, shaping the structure of magnesium materials in foundry, welding, plastic processing and heat treatment procedures, testing and analysis of microstructure as well as the mechanical and tribological properties of non-ferrous alloys and metal matrix composites (including the search for correlations between the technological process - structure - properties). She has published over 100 research papers and three books. She was a manager and contractor of research and implementation projects. She was co-organizer over 25 scientific conferences, seminars and symposiums. She is also a lecturer for Materials Engineering direction. Her work has been recognized by various awards.
