abstract This paper presents the application of powder gas spraying method for the production of metal and metal-ceramic coatings. The role and methods of the surface preparation has been outlined. The main parameters of the gas spraying method have been identified for typical equipment system (Fig. 1). The results of microstructure examination are shown in the form of cross-section pictures of sprayed coatings and substrates. Figure 2 shows the microstructure of Ni,Cr,B,Si+Al2O3-SiO2 layers obtained by the gas spraying method. Figure 3 presents the microstructure of sprayed layer made of Eutalloy TungTec powder (60% WC, 20% Ni, 7% Cr, 6% Fe, 4% Si). Figures 4 and 5 are showing gas sprayed Ni,Cr,B,Si+40% WC and Ni,Cr,B,Si+10% Al2O3 layers. Also, the results of microhardness measurements of produced coatings are summarized in Figures 6 and 7.
