abstract The results of microstructure and mechanical properties of Co-Cr-Mo alloy-based biocomposites with different contents (5, 10, 15% wt.) of bioglass addition (15% CaO, 9% P2O5, 76% SiO) [7, 8] have been studied. The Co-Cr-Mo alloy powder after blending with bioglass was single-action pressed and sintered in the argon atmosphere at the temperature 1230°C. The morphology of powder particles is shown in Figure 1. The sinters were divided into two groups. The first group of samples was cold repressed on PXW100A rotary press and heat treated at the temperature of 1230°C. The microstructure and mechanical properties of samples are presented in Figure 3 and Table 2. The second group of speciments was hot forging at the temperature of 1150°C. The results of structural examination and mechanical properties are shown in Figures 4, 5 and Table 3. The most homogenous structure was obtained with 5% wt. of the bioglass additions. With the increase of bioglass contents the homogeneity and mechanical properties (ultimate compressing strength and hardness) decrease. The structure investigation revealed that the bioglass particles are not sufficient settled in the metallic matrix (Fig. 4d). Comparing two methods of repressing significantly better properties of the samples were obtained after hot forging. Key words: glass-metalic composites, Co-Cr-Mo alloy, bioglass
