abstract One of development directions of tribological materials is to obtain the composite with soft additions. Calciumpyrophosphate is reckoned among the group of „white solid lubricants”. In this work the results of investigations receiving of composite materials based on iron ASC 100 with contens of 2, 5, 10 and 15 vol.% Ca2P2O7 additions have been presented. Samples were produced by the powder metallurgy method, including cold pressing (p = 600 MPa) and sintering process under argon atmosphere at the temperature 1150ºC. One examined density, structure and microhardness of sintered compacts. From the compactibility data appeared (Fig. 1), that higher density of samples received in case of material with 5 vol.% addition. Together with height of density microhardness of sintered materials increased. The maximum value of microhardness was observed in samples with 5 vol.% Ca2P2O7 (Fig. 2). Microstructures of obtained materials are presented in Figure 3. The structure consisted of Ca2P2O7 particles distributed in metallic matrix. The analysis of elements distribution maps authenticated the appearance of two separated phases (Fig. 4). This kind of heterogeneous structure with the hard matrix and particles of solid lubricant is characteristic of the bearing metals. Therefore the obtained composite should be a good antifriction material. There are investigated the tribological properties of produced composites.
