abstract In the paper are presented the results of investigations of unidirectional carbon-epoxy composites intended to be used in aircraft constructions. The requirements for such composites are presented. Parameters defining some selected properties of composite components specified by the manufactures were compared with the results of authors' experimental investigation. For this purpose roving impregnation device (RID) for carbon fiber were designed and constructed, being then modified to make the fiber composite homogeneous. Structures and mechanical properties of composite specimens after RID modification were examined. Selected material constants of the carbon-epoxy composite subject to a bending load were determined. The strength properties under compression as a temperature function and specimen fixing method were investigated. The influence of RID construction, testing temperature as well as fixing method upon the results obtained was proved.
